As I compose and write-up my tardy French republican Battle of Dego 1796 AAR this week, I came across photos taken at the recent October HMGS-PSW convention. HMGS-PSW (Pacific Southwest) has been arranging historical conventions, since 1988, in the greater Los Angeles area. Well attended compact show with a variety of games and certainly worth a visit at their bi-annual events. During the year they sponsor mini-themed events (ancients, 28mm bolt action, FOW, naval, aerial etc.) at different venues, plus giving support to the local gaming clubs.

Some great looking games, it was good to see so many kids getting involved!
Yes Ray,
I was impressed by Duke’s JHS group. They have been playing for several years now in different periods (SYW, Nappy, ACW). I added a link to his blog page. http://winserswargames.blogspot.com/
Nice report and variety of games. I can’t realte to Tournament games at all, but many seem to enjoy them, so to each their own.
Hi Peter,
Thank you for your support… a basic report, mostly photos showing some West coast gaming. Still sunny out here… you are getting all our weather back east and free refrigeration too. Tournament games support the convention so my hats off to them but I am a “scenario guy” myself…like you I expect. Painting up Assyrians I see.

P.S.
Your recent Danish articles pushed me into cleaning up (dust off and locate) my napoleonic Danish army. They take the tabletop this saturday with some new standards….. 8 line regts (of 4 btns each), 4 light regts, 3 hy. cavalry, 2 lt. dragoons, the hussars, the Liv horse guard and our favorite…. those red carriage artillery batteries. Will provide photos in due course…. win or glorious defeat.
P.S.S.
Now to find my ancient Assyrian army in 25mm.
